Cook Halibut

I received a phone call out of the blue the other day. An old school friend who had moved to another part of the country had phoned to tell me that she was home this weekend and I was wondering if me and my husband wanted to pop around his parents for dinner.

We would have loved, but unfortunately, it was probably a bit too late to organize a babysitter for the night, but would have been a shame to miss an update with my old friend. Maybe she and her husband could come to mine? She asked. Well, yes, of course I replied.

When I put the phone down, I stopped short. Only had a few hours to prepare something for dinner and had not been shopping for a couple of days. All I had on hand was a few halibut steaks my husband had bought that afternoon we had planned to eat in the coming days. A smile spread across my face and I nodded knowing that everything would be fine. Read More

America's Desserts

Hot Fudge Sundae

The hot fudge sundae is an American favorite of yesteryear. It is also very easy to do. You just need some ice cream and hot chocolate. Most people also add your favorite nuts and cherries on top too. This makes a delightful gift that is easily one of America's favorite desserts.

Class Brownie

Brownies are a great time favorite with children and seem to bring out the kid in most adults too. Brownies can be made from pre-made mixes that you can buy in the grocery store, so it is very simple and easy. Others may choose to realize the brownies from scratch, but either way you really can not go wrong with this popular dessert.Read More

Seven Layer Salad Recipe

If you've been to a potluck dinner or a barbecue recently, chances are you have tried a seven-layer salad. The beauty of this particular dish is that each has its own variation of it. You never know what will come to take your first bite (and even then we do not know exactly what you're eating). Here is a recipe for seven layer salad I created called the Classic. Use all the ingredients that you think would be included if there ever was a "standard" version. This recipe tends to be popular among my more conservative friends.
Ingredients for Classic Seven Layer Salad Recipe:

1 head iceberg lettuce
1 cup frozen peas (thawed)
1 red onion (chopped)
3 eggs (hard)
1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese ()
2 cups tomato (diced)
1 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons salt.Read More
